Alongside every inspirational chef is their inspiring other half  

It’s a fact that in a couple, one partner often inspires the other.

Pierre and Sylvie Puget, on the other hand, have succeeded in transforming their passions into a delicious joint reality that they share every day with their loved ones and guests. This all takes place at the magnificent hotel restaurant La Clef d'Or in Bursinel, where culinary artists are joined by fans of haute cuisine.

We have a little chat with owner Sylvie Puget

You and your husband work together every day. Is it out of love for him, or love for cooking and hospitality?

It’s a bit of both. With a background in hotel management, I'm a hospitality business professional, something I consider to be an art. Pierre, on the other hand, has been passionate about cooking since he was very young. Our complementary passions are what drove us to create our business partnership, and they bring us much closer together both as a couple and as human beings. 

Can you sum up the La Clef d'Or in a single sentence?

It’s a place where lovers of good food can get together and have a good time.

In the workplace, would you say you are more like a couple or colleagues?

We're a couple of colleagues! Pierre and I make a clear distinction between business and our private lives, but we're very close in both. At La Clef d’Or, we each have clearly defined roles, and neither of us interferes with the other's work. Because we both value teamwork, sharing, and respect for our profession, our staff, and our customers, the time we spend together at the hotel-restaurant is very enjoyable for all of us.

What’s the biggest motivation in your job?

Knowing that my guests are happy at La Clef d’Or and that they feel at home. I give it my all every day to achieve this goal, which brings me great satisfaction.

Where do you and Pierre draw your inspiration from?

During our many travels, Pierre and I have discovered different cultures and flavors that have inspired us, enabling Pierre to develop the wide variety of special culinary combinations that his cuisine is known for.

After all these years working alongside Pierre Puget, what is your role in the kitchen?

The lifestyle we lead indeed means that Pierre is the one in the kitchen, but that doesn't change the fact that I've inspired some of his recipes!
