What are the seven hairstyle trends for women in 2023? Our hair expert Lionel Brandao gives us the lowdown.

« You need to know that hairstyles will become more and more individual, because people are looking for a mixture of different characteristics. Hair will be shorter, in line with catwalk predictions for 2023, where we are seeing barely visible bobs, short braids and fringes. For those who are attached to their long hair, the good news is that layers are still a trend. »

The C-cut

This cut features a softer "U" shape thanks to length, layering, and face-framing fringes. It's an evolution of the 70s and 90s cuts we saw in 2022, but much lighter around the face.
This gives a more rounded and balanced haircut that is still fun to style and easy to do. Your hair will look thicker, and the shape will be perfect whether styled or left natural.

Mix & match

This is a way of combining different haircuts. So, you can take the front of one cut and the back of another, like the butterfly cut, for example. This “mix and match” version of a haircut appeals to young people who want a hybrid style.

Short haircuts

We will be seeing a lot of pixie cuts, short bobs, fringes and other similar styles this year. These short haircuts are usually requested by clients who want to make a fresh start and hit the reset button.

Curls

Curly and frizzy hair naturally has amazing texture, so there is no specific trend. You will have to adapt your cut to your hair aims, whether that’s volume, length or shape in general. Note that good hair care is essential with this type of hair.

90s Mid-Length

For those who like their hair neither too long nor too short, the 90s mid-length is the perfect compromise. A cut like this becomes more modern when you add layers and texture to it. Movement also allows it to be more voluminous.

Layers

This is the biggest hair trend of the moment since it encompasses dozens of hairstyles that are all the rage, including the butterfly cut. The great thing is that you can tailor the layering to your personality and style, whether it's minimal and understated, grunge, smooth and sliced, or chunky.

The curtain fringe

Popular in 2022, it’s still going strong in 2023. This is a fringe that starts halfway between the eyebrows and the bridge of the nose, and is longer on the sides. Depending on the fullness of the cut, it can be super soft or barely there, and blend in with the rest of the hair when pulled up. It's not a solid fringe, and it's not face framing either. It falls somewhere between the two and suits the majority of hair lengths. Those with long or medium length hair can add a wavy fringe to create volume.
