Hyundai’s IONIQ 6 delivers a 614km driving range per charge
Hyundai's IONIQ 6 Electrified Streamliner is one of the most energy-efficient electric vehicles on the market with a driving range of 614 kilometres (382 miles), according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP). IONIQ 6’s exceptional range and performance owes much to its ultra-low drag coefficient and Hyundai Motor Group's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), a platform specifically designed to meet the different lifestyle needs its customers. Through extensive aerodynamic design and development work, Hyundai, South Korea’s biggest car manufacturer and the world’s fourth-largest, has maximised the all-electric driving range of the IONIQ 6. The model’s streamlined appearance and various design elements such as an active air flap, wheel air curtains, an integrated rear spoiler and wheel gap reducers have considerably improved its aerodynamic performance, making it one of the most elegant vehicles in the world. In addition, the E-GMP platform guarantees outstanding electrical performance offering ultra-fast 800V charging for a driving range of up to 351 kilometres (218 miles) in just 15 minutes as well as super-fast charging from 10% to 80% in around 18 minutes. What’s more, E-GMP supports 400V charging without the need for additional components or adapters. The IONIQ 6 Electrified Streamliner uses all the advantages of E-GMP to meet passengers’ needs in the best possible way. The E-GMP platform and the innovative vehicle-to-load technology also means IONIQ 6 can be a workstation, or portable powerbank on wheels, allowing electrical camping devices or other outdoor equipment to be charged. Customers benefit from Hyundai Motor Group’s commitment to develop advanced battery technology that enables stress-free driving and a long range. What’s more, the WLTP-rated energy consumption of 13.9 kWh/100 km makes IONIQ 6 one of the most energy-efficient electric vehicles on the market. Jae Ho Huh, head of the Sub-Mid Project Management Centre of the Hyundai Motor Company, said that right from the start of IONIQ 6’s development, the company had set its sights on building the leading all-electric range of vehicles. He said that in order to become a global leader in electric vehicles, Hyundai was committed to providing the best possible performance and ownership experience. “We put every effort into designing the most efficient car in the EV segment,” said Byung Hoon Min, director of Total Vehicle Performance Development Centre at Hyundai Motor Company. “Our focus on improving aerodynamics has helped to achieve one of the vehicles with the longest all-electric range available, which will reduce customers’ anxiety about range and help grow the segment.”
