Exclusive interview with Steve Rougemont, chef, baker, pastry chef, confectioner at Nyon’s favourite tea-room
The legendary Rougemont bakery-confectioners, which has recently undergone a complete revamp, serves lunches as well as coffee and delicious pastries, in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Chef Steve Rougemont and his wife Isabelle answered our questions.
Your bakery is famous throughout Nyon region, what is its secret ? The bakery is staffed by a team of professionals who give a warm welcome to customers We put our heart and soul into our work every day because we love our job. It’s a demanding profession, which requires passion, but also attention to detail and patience - qualities which are undoubtedly reflected in our food and our service. What is it that makes your business so much more than a bakery ? We offer a large assortment of baked goods and speciality breads, and also pastries which vary according to the seasons and how the inspiration takes us. They taste as good as they look and are available in several sizes, made with high-quality ingredients with something to tickle the tastebuds of all ages! Our customers also love our wide selection of confectionery, biscuits, cakes, jams, frosted mandarins, etc., as well as our gluten-free items. For aperitifs, our selection of delicious sweet and savoury treats is in high demand for parties and events. Our puff pastry flutes and crackers are available all year round and are also a big hit! Rougemont is also a popular spot for lunch in Nyon… Our tea-room is situated in the middle of Nyon, at 24 rue Saint-Jean, opposite the Perdtemps car park. This is very convenient for our customers, who have short lunch breaks. We prepare hot and cold dishes using local products that are served with a smile. The colourful menu changes daily. It’s very important to us that our customers can eat healthily and feel at home. The Rougemont bakery-confectioners welcomes customers throughout the day, for coffee, lunch or a snack with family or friends. For aperitifs, receptions, events, etc.., remember to place your orders at least 48 hours in advance by calling the store on 022 361 18 06 or calling into the shop in Nyon. All the dishes offered in the tea room are also available to take away. The Rougemont is open from Tuesday to Sunday.
